About Trevor Muteto

My name is Trevor Muteto, and I was born in Zimbabwe, where my journey with wood began. As a young man, I found my passion in wood carving, spending countless hours learning and honing my skills alongside my neighbor, who played an important role in shaping my craft. Working with my hands and seeing the beauty in every piece of wood quickly became more than just a hobby; it was my calling.

In 2012, I moved to South Africa and had the privilege of joining The Joshua Tree Oak Furniture, where I deepened my expertise and developed a true appreciation for oak as a material. Over nearly a decade, I learned the nuances of fine craftsmanship, blending tradition with modern techniques.

In 2021, I decided to embark on a new chapter and started my own business, focusing on creating unique oak furniture from reclaimed wine barrels. Every piece I craft carries with it a story, transforming used materials into timeless, functional works of art. I am proud to be based in the beautiful town of Bredasdorp, where I draw inspiration from my surroundings and the natural beauty of the Western Cape.

You can find me trading my handcrafted furniture at the Greyton Market and Hermanus Country Market on Saturday mornings, where I look forward to sharing my passion and creations with the community.
